Hello.
My name is Bill Hughes and I am a police sergeant in charge of my department's
motorcycle operations and training as well as a certified motorcycle instructor
and examiner for the state of New Jersey. I am also certified by the Motorcycle
Safety Foundation.
I would like to start out by saying thank you for
your interest in my DVD. All of the techniques within it are based on the
training that I received in becoming a certified motor officer. The two-week
course that I went through was very intense. It was not uncommon to see
officers dropping their bikes during the training.
I have taken all of
my training experience that I have received and carefully developed this video
designed to improve your riding ability in a relatively short amount of time as
long as you apply the techniques as demonstrated.
The cone courses are
designed to reinforce basic riding skills and to increase the rider's ability
to ride with confidence and safety.
Police cone courses are set up using
large traffic cones on a tighter course, meaning that the cones are placed
closer together. This makes it more difficult to maneuver through the course
and leaves little room for errors. The cones will also intimidate the rider,
and if struck and run over will usually cause the rider to fall over and crash,
which could result in injury.
My cone course was developed using the
same principals but set up spacing the cones wider apart. I have also found
multi-colored cones that can be set up and transported on your motorcycle to
your practice area unlike large traffic cones. These will be available for
purchase shortly on this website. These smaller cones can be run over with much
less potential for the rider to fall over eliminating some of the intimidation
factor.
These multi-colored cones can be set up in a color-coded manner
to help assist you in where your head and eyes should be focused. The video
includes chalkboard demonstrations.
Also, during this video at no time
should you be using your front brake. If you do, you and your bike will more
than likely fall over.
